The Sprites Option in the Property Sheets Box

The sprites option allows a sprite representing a landscape type to be added, modified. In addition, the picture illustrating the landscape type changed. The option opens up a new sprites box as well as eight new buttons

The Sprites Box

The sprite box presents the available graphics files for each sprite representing the highlighted landscape type in the LandscapeTypes box. There may be multiple options (i.e., picture files) for each landscape types.

Sprites Buttons

Add Sprite. This button allows the addition of a new option (i.e., graphics file) in the sprite box to represent the highlighted landscape type in the LandscapeTypes box.

Select as Pencil. When an option (i.e., graphics file) is highlighted in the Sprite box, this button activates the drawing tool. If the map button is then pressed, the selected option (i.e., graphics file) can be used to paint terrain in the map window.

Graphics Buttons These three unlabeled buttons modify how a sprite appears on the hex. The right-most button allows a graphic file to be chosen as the base sprite of the selected landscape type. The center button places an optional sprite on the underlying sprite to modify the underlying layer. The left-most button adds an additional graphics file- an over sprite- that extends slightly beyond the original hex. The over sprite is used to represent objects like the peak of a mountain that rises above the hex. The effect of these three buttons and their related sprites is illustrated in this sprite overlay example.

Plot Last. This button triggers a function that determines whether the optional sprite in the sprite Buttons (i.e., the middle button) is visible or not. If set to true, the optional sprite is visible; if set to false the optional sprite will not be visible.

OverIsTop This button triggers a function that determines whether the over sprite in the sprite Buttons (i.e., the left-most button) is visible or not. If set to true, the over sprite is visible; if set to false the over sprite will not be visible.

Landscape Image. This button is used to change the image used to illustrate the hex during the game.
